Delhi receives season's highest rainfall

Delhi recorded 59.9 mm rainfall till 8.30 AM, so far this season's highest, while between 8.30 AM and 5.30 PM, 2.8 mm of rain was recorded.

A boy died when a wall in Tilak Nagar Keshav Mandi, near metro station collapsed due to heavy downpour.

Delhiites had a harrowing time as heavy rains flooded roads, causing traffic snarls. People waded through knee-deep water in several areas. Pothholed roads and water logging, which in some cases rose up to four feet, slowed down vehicular movement.

The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 31.2 degree Celsius, while minimum was 23.6 deg C. The humidity level hovered between 81 per cent and 100 per cent.

 

The maximum temperature at most places in Punjab and Haryana hovered couple of notches below the normal level as rains continued to lash the region.

Chandigarh received 9.4 mm rainfall and recorded a high of 33 deg C.

Ambala in Haryana received 51 mm showers and recorded a high of 33 deg C. Bhiwani recorded maximum 31.4 deg C, down two degrees, after being lashed by 9.8 mm rain.

In Punjab, Ludhiana received 7 mm rainfall and it recorded a high of 33.9 deg C.

Patiala recorded a high of 32.6 deg C, down one notch, while Amritsar's maximum was 35.4 deg C.

Rains and thundershowers occurred at many places in Uttar Pradesh as rivers continued their rising trend in the state.

Ganga was flowing near the red mark at Fatehgarh and Ballia and maintaining a rising trend from Kanpur to Ballia stretch, while Yamuna was just under the danger mark at Mathura. Sharda and Ghaghra were flowing above the danger level at Palia Kalan, Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Tutipar. Rapti and Burhi Rapti were nearing the red mark at many places.

Kuano river was also in spate and above the red mark at Chadnradeepghat in Gonda.
