Delhi receives slight rain; mercury remains close to 40 deg C

The national capital received traces of rainfall today even as soaring mercury, coupled with high humidity, continued to cause discomfort to people in the city.

The maximum temperature today settled two notches above the season's average at 39.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was recorded a notch below the normal at 27.2 degrees, said a MeT department official.

The city received traces of rainfall in the evening. The humidity oscillated between 82 and 42 per cent.

The MeT office has predicted overcast conditions along with the possibility of very light rain or thundershowers in some parts of the city tomorrow.
 

"The skies will be partly cloudy. Very light rain and thundershowers may occur in some parts of the city," the MeT official said.

"Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle at 38 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively," the official added.

Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum settled at 25.6 degrees Celsius.
