Sun shone bright today over the national capital offering some respite from cold after fog in the morning led to cancellation of 45 trains.

Flight operations though remained normal, airport officials said.

The maximum temperature settled two notches above the season's average at 24.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 9 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, said a Met department official.

Shallow to moderate fog was reported at around 5:30 AM, when visibility was recorded at 400 metres. It improved to 700 metres at 8:30 AM and further to 1500 meters at 11.30 AM.

Humidity in the air oscillated between 51 and 97 per cent.

The MeT office has predicted partly cloudy skies for tomorrow with moderate to dense fog in the morning.

"The skies will be partly cloudy. Shallow to moderate fog may occur in the morning and forenoon. The maximum and minimum temperature is expected to hover around 23 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius, respectively," the official said.

Yesterday, maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 21.2 degrees Celsius and 6.8 degrees Celsius respectively.
