It was a relatively warmer day in the national capital today even as cold conditions prevailed in several parts of neighbouring Punjab and Haryana.
It was a warm day in the national capital with the maximum temperature rising by three notches above the season's average to settle at 28.7 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 11 degrees Celsius, a notch below the normal, said a MeT department official. The Relative Humidity level oscillated between 32 and 90 per cent.
The MeT Department has predicted a mainly clear sky which will turn partly cloudy with the possibility of haze in the morning tomorrow.
Yesterday, the minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded at 12.4 and 27.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
After a temporary respite, cold weather conditions have revived at most places in Punjab and Haryana during the past few days.
Adampur and Karnal recorded lowest temperatures in Punjab and Haryana respectively. Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, recorded a low of 11.2 degrees Celsius, which settled within the limits normal for this time of the season.
In Punjab, Adampur witnessed a low of 6 degrees Celsius, followed by Gurdaspur which recorded a below normal minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius, a MeT Department official in Chandigarh said.
Bathinda (7.8) and Faridkot (8) also registered below average minimum temperatures, the official said.
Amritsar recorded a low of 8.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature at Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 9.4 and 11.9 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Haryana, Karnal was the coldest place at a low of 6.5 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal range.
Hisar recorded a low of 9.1 degrees Celsius, down three notches against normal.
However, Ambala's low settled at 12.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
Meanwhile, the MeT office in Himachal Pradesh today warned of hailstorm at isolated places in lower and mid-hills for next two days. It also predicted rains or snow at isolated places in mid and higher hills during next four days.
The maximum day temperatures today rose by few notches across Himachal. However, there was no significant change in night temperatures which remained close the freezing point in higher hills and tribal areas.
The hailstorm forecast has caused anxiety among the farmers as it is considered harmful for rabi crops.
