Delhi roads bore 150,000 additional cars in 2015

Over 1.5 lakh cars were added to the capital's roads this financial year along with 3.5 lakh bikes and scooters, taking the number of total registered vehicles whopping 88.27 lakh.

According to Delhi Statistical Hand Book 2015 released today, over 8,000 buses went off the roads during fiscal year 2014-15 making a total of 32,540 as against 40,947 in 2013-14.

More than 26.29 lakh cars and jeeps plied in the national capital in the period between April 2013 and March 2014. During last year, 27.90 lakh cars and jeeps plied in the capital, the report said.

During 2014-15, more than 1,000 taxis were added to the city's roads, taking the total numbers of taxis to 79,606, it stated.
 
Besides, there are 79,606 auto rickshaws plying in the national capital while the number of good vehicles including trucks and tempo, reached 1,61,821 during last financial year as against 1,54,654 in 2013-14.
