The Delhi government's departments of finance and planning have approved the purchase of 2,000 new buses.
Of these, a thousand buses will be of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the rest are cluster ones.
As both the departments have given their approval, the proposal will now be sent to the Cabinet for its final nod, an official said.

The decision to procure new buses was taken at the DTC board's meeting on June 20.
Officials said the DTC would float tenders for procuring the buses and these would be added to its fleet in the current financial year.
