Delhi sees annual industrial growth rate of 1.94 pc: survey

The national capital has witnessed an annual industrial growth rate of 1.94 per cent, according to the Economic Survey of Delhi released today.

The Sixth Economic Census conducted in 2013 registered an annual growth rate of 1.94 per cent. In absolute term there is an increase of 1,17,565 establishments over 5th Economic Census conducted during 2005, the survey said.

There are 8.75 lakh industrial establishments in Delhi as per Sixth Economic Census. Over 95 per cent of these establishments were in urban areas while just 1.42 per cent were in rural areas.

Manufacturing sub-sector is the largest contributor in the secondary sector in the economy of Delhi as the income from manufacturing has increased from Rs 18,907 crore in 2011-12 to Rs 45,689 crore in 2016-17.
 

The number of working factories in Delhi increased from 7,793 in 2007 to 8,954 in 2015, it said.
