Several traders today staged a protest outside Town hall in Chandni Chowk demanding amendment to the Delhi Rent Control Act.

With placard and 'roti' in their hands, they gave an "ultimatum" to the government to amend the Rent Control act within 30 days or else they will seek permission from the President to "commit mass suicide" outside Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The protest was led by Rajdhani Pagdi Kiryadar Sanganthan, which claimed to have support of over five lakh of 'pagdi' shopkeepers of more than 70 market associations.

"We have decided that it is either relief or death this time. We have been requesting the government to provide us relief or allow us to die," Ravi Garg, president of the sangathan, said.
