Mercury today remained on the warmer side in the national capital as Delhiites came out of their homes to soak up in the sunny weather and kick off revelries for the New Year.
Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 25.1 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal while the minimum settled at 8.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, said a Met department official.
The maximum temperature was the highest in five years for this time of the season, the official said.
Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 25.1 and 8.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
"The western disturbance is moving over higher latitudes because of which the northerly winds are not able to reach Delhi and the subsidence of cool air is less over the region," said a senior Met department official.
Humidity was recorded between 37 and 97 per cent.
Visibility was recorded 400 meters at 5.30 AM and 600 meters at 8.30 AM. It improved further as the day progressed.
The MeT office has predicted partly cloudy skies till tomorrow afternoon.
"The sky will be partly cloudy and turn clear afternoon onwards. Shallow to moderate fog would occur in several parts of the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 24 and 7 degrees, respectively," the weatherman said.
