A 31-year-old woman from Delhi's Kashmere Gate area was allegedly gangraped by three men in a car at Pallavpuram area here, police said today.

The incident happened yesterday and as the victim's condition deteriorated the accused admitted her to a nursing home at the Delhi-Haridwar road and fled, they said.

The victim told the police she had come across one of the accused - Nakul - some six months back when she had gone to Ghaziabad to see a plot with her husband.

According to her, she kept talking to Nakul over phone regularly after their meeting.

Later on he proposed her for a court marriage and yesterday asked her to accompany him to Dehradun for the purpose, she said.

The woman was already married for 13 years.

She told the police that at the time of marriage she was 17 and her husband was 35 and they did not enjoy a good relationship due to which she was "distressed".

After Nakul's proposal to her she decided to go with him to Dehradun in his car. Two other youths also accompanied them and the woman alleged that she was gangraped by the three inside the vehicle, police said.

Area's police incharge Dr. Arvind Kumar told PTI that case of gangrape has been registered against the accused on the basis of a complaint filed by the woman.

The accused are absconding and efforts are being made to arrest them, he said.

Kumar said that since the crime scene is Delhi's neighbouring area the case will be referred to the Delhi police.
