The Delhi Women Commission today asked the Delhi Police Commissioner to increase patrolling in Khirki Extension area to ensure that no women, particularly the women of foreign origin are forced into prostitution or immoral trafficking.

Expressing shock and serious concern over the revelations made by three Ugandan women that they were brought to India on job promise and later were pushed into prostitution, the DCW chairperson Barkha Singh, in a letter to Delhi Police chief Bhim Singh Bassi, demanded "stern and stringent legal action against the culprit as named in the FIR."

She also urged the Police Commissioner to direct the area SHO to take immediate action and legal recourse so that anti social activities could be curbed and people live in free and peaceful environment.

"Urgent preventive action and measure on the part of the police is the immediate need of the hour. I shall also be grateful to your good self if you could kindly give me an urgent appointment to discuss this important matter to avoid such recurrences in the immediate future," the letter stated.
