Delhi Youth Congress workers today protested outside the BJP headquarters here demanding the resignation of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh for "failing" to provide security to the Congress leaders killed and injured in a Maoist ambush in that state.

"There was no adequate security provided by the Chhattisgarh government when they knew that such senior leaders were going to the troubled area," said Varun Gupta, Assembly President of the Delhi Youth Congress.

A group of around 100 protesters gathered near the BJP headquarters holding placards and wearing black badges in protest against the attack.

"We will be holding a peaceful protest demanding the resignation of the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh," he said.

Heavily-armed Naxals ambushed a convoy of Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district yesterday, killing 27 people including senior party leader Mahendra Karma, and injuring former Union Minister V C Shukla and 31 others.
