Senior party leader and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra alleged that the move to "allow certain designated companies to provide water meters" will result in three-fold increase in the prices.
"This is a conspiracy to loot the public," he said in a statement.
He claimed that the move was in violation of Delhi High Court's order through which it had directed the Government to formulate clear guidelines for the purchase of water meters.
