Demand for independent Madhes is a ploy to disintegrate Nepal, former deputy prime minister Kamal Thapa today claimed while observing that the country is plunging into crisis due to "languidness" of big parties.
Thapa, President of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), said the country is gradually plunging into a morass of crisis due to wrong policies and languidness of the big political parties.
Addressing the gathering of party cadres in Bharatpur, a town in central Nepal, the former deputy prime minister said that no voices provoking disintegration of Nepal were heard, in its 250-year-long history after its unification by Prithvi Narayan Shah the great in 1770, despite many upheavals.

Demand for independent Madhes is a ploy to disintegrate Nepal, Thapa said.
Thapa's remarks were seen as a hint towards the demand of re-demarcation of provincial boundary put forward by the agitating pro-Madhesi parties.
Thapa said the country had to pay huge price because of visionless and power-hungry political leaders.
"The unification of our parties is to save the country from plunging into a serious crisis," Thapa said while addressing the cadres.
He reiterated that Nepal should be declared a Hindu state while respecting other religions.
Thapa warned that the move towards disintegration though was at a nascent stage could turn into a dangerous force.
