"We demand an independent regulatory body and independent safety inspection of atomic power units in the country," PUCL activist Kavita Srivastava said at a press conference here.
She alleged that in Rawatbhata, in Chittorgarh district, where a team of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is carrying out a safety review, 34 casual workers who were exposed to overdose of tritium in reactor No.5 were asked to go on leave during the inspection of work.
The IAEA team is carrying out review in Rawatbhata unit No.3 and No.4.
Writer Praful Bidwai also highlighted the need for such a regulatory body.
