Local INLD MLA Pirthi Singh Nambardar today demanded naming of the Danauda village stadium after a national-level handball player, Rakesh Kumar, who was allegedly murdered on October 9.
In a condolence meet held at the slain player's village, attended by people from 22 villages, SDM Sumit Kumar and Binain khap representatives, the MLA said Rakesh's loss is irreparable and demanded financial help for his family and immediate arrest of the accused.
Rakesh Kumar, a national-level handball player who hailed from Danauda village, was allegedly murdered on October 9 over the issue of a missing mobile phone.
Binain khap chief Nafe Singh Nain reiterated the MLA's demand of naming the Danauda village stadium after Rakesh and said the government should meet these demands.
The khap spokesperson expressed his anger alleging no government representative had come to visit the victim's family after he was murdered.
He issued a censure motion against the government.
Addressing the SDM, he said that two alleged accused - Praveen Malik and Monu Pandit - are still at large and they should be arrested soon.
He demanded Rs 5 crore fincaiclal help and government job for one eligible member in the family.
The khap spokesman also demanded that besides the stadium, library and school should also be named after the player so that other students can take inspiration from him and do better in sports.
He warned that if the two accused were not arrested within two days they would block the national highway or rail tracks.
SDM Sumit Kumar who also addressed the condolence meet said the khap's demand would be conveyed to the Jind Deputy Commissioner.
The SDM also gave Rs 11,000 from his salary.
