Observing that these pre-historic fossils were found around the Mandar Hills of the Santhal Parganas several years ago, Nishikant Dubey said, "In spite of demands being raised for a long time by the people in Jharkhand, the mining mafia is destroying all such fossils and there is no check on the illegal mining there."
Referring to fossil parks in the US which have turned into major tourist and scientific hot-spots, the member from Godda constituency said the government should take urgent measures to preserve and protect these fossils and make them available for posterity.
