A delegation of Cuttack Nagarika Manch headed by advocate Chittaranjan Mohanty today submitted a memorandum addressed to Khurda Division Railway Manager (DRM) demanding Passenger and Express trains to halt for at least two minutes at Naraj station.
Since there has been an inordinate delay in doubling of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar railway tracks, most trains, including at least nine Express trains are not coming to Cuttack stations and are diverted through Naraj. In order to travel in these trains, people of the city either go to Bhubaneswar in south or Jajpur in north to catch these trains, the memorandum said.
The delegation submitted the memorandum to Cuttack railway station manager here and pointed out that since Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are twin cities, all south-bound trains originating from Bhubaneswar should begin its journey from Cuttack.
The delegation also asked the Cuttack railway authorities to open another 24-hour ticket reservation counter towards Sikharpur side to facilitate people residing at the eastern part of the city.
