Secretary General of All India Defence Civilian Canteen Employees Union Bharat Bhushan Khulbe told PTI that similar protests will be organised outside residences of Defence Minister A K Antony, Army Chief General Bikram Singh and Navy Chief Admiral D K Joshi.
"We are fighting for our genuine demand for implementation of CAG and PAC report recommendations that unit-run canteens should be brought under Parliamentary purview. Unit-run canteens should be recognised as the integral part of CSD and unit-run canteen employees should be treated at par with the CSD employees," he said.
The union has been sitting on an indefinite protest outside Sena Bhavan since December 1 and said that it is ready to go to any extent to get their demands fulfilled.
"We are ready to go to any extent. We will also come with our kids and family members for the protest and we are ready to commit suicide if government does not implement the PAC's recommendations," Khulbe said.
He claimed that PAC report regarding on regularisation of 10,000 URC employees and 4500 canteens operated by them, has not been implemented due to the objections of the Service chiefs.
"The three Service chiefs don't want to give CAG the access to audit these canteens. Only because of their adamant behaviour, we are deprived of our genuine benefits. In coming days we will conduct similar protests outside the residences of the defence minister, Army chief and Navy chief," he said.
Khulbe also said that the union did not get any satisfactory reply from the defence minister also during its meeting with him on December 5.
"On December 5, the defence minister called us for a meeting. He told us that he is not able to do this (implement the report) because of adamant behaviour of the Service chiefs. I am ashamed the Defence Minister is saying he can not order the Service chiefs. This is a shameful matter," he said.
While CSD canteens operate as wholesale units, URCs procure material from them and sell them to consumers.
