Demand in RS to compensate farmers hit by rain-deficit

A demand was made in the Rajya Sabha today to direct the state governments to pay compensation to the farmers hit by deficit rains.

Raising the issue through a special mention, Vishambhar Prasad Nishad (SP) demanded that the state governments be directed "to pay compensation to farmers where deficit of rains have hit sowing of Kharif crops, especially in Bundelkhand (region of Uttar Pradesh)."

Raising another issue, Sanjay Singh (AAP) stressed the need to "restore the old pension scheme", while Satyanarayan Jatia (BJP) demanded promotion of Ayurveda in Madhya Pradesh under the AYUSH mission.

Akhilesh Prasad Singh (Cong) stressed the need to expedite the work on new AIIMS project.

 

D Raja (CPI) urged the government to direct the Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, to be more pro-active and help save inland fishery resources.
