Press Trust of India Coimbatore
: Demanding immediate completion of various pending road and rail projects, connecting the city with other major centres, Puthiya Tamizhakam today staged a demonstration here today.

Raising slogans against both the Centre and State governments, the workers, led by party president and MLA, Dr K Krishnasamy sought to know the fate of the Chennai-Kanyakumari double line and also separate cargo corridor.

Alleging that Government was deliberately delaying the Pollachi-Podanur Broad guage conversion, pending for the last 10 years, Krishnasamy said the Government should immediately take steps to lay a four lane road connecting Mysore-Sathyamangalam-Coimbatore Pollachi-Palani-Dindigul for industrial development of the region.

The party also wanted the Government to remove all toll gates in Tamil Nadu, particularly in the city connecting Pollachi and Palakkad, which has outlived its period and creating unnecessary traffic jams, Krishnasamy said.
