Announcing this, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said the state cabinet would soon give approval to notify the Buffer zone.

The Supreme Court had on July 24 slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 to six states, including Bihar, for their failure for issuing notification of Buffer Zone of the Tiger Reserve Project area.

The other five states are Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

The apex court was furious that despite its earlier directions of April 4 and July 10, the states had failed to notify the buffer zones in their respective reserves.

The SC also warned that if they failed to comply within three weeks, the defaulting states shall be saddled with a cost of Rs 50,000 each, recoverable from the Principal Secretary, Forest of the state concerned.
