A backup dancer for Demi Lovato has denied that she supplied drugs to the singer.

Last month, Lovato had overdosed on what was reported as an unspecified opioid. She was found unconscious at her Hollywood Hills residence.

In a lengthy statement posted on her official Instagram account, Vitale said she has nothing to do with the incident.

"I have never touched nor even seen a drug in my entire life. I do not do drugs, nor would I ever encourage, or supply them to anyone I love," she wrote.

"This untrue narrative is damaging innocent people's lives, mine included It is not okay to bully someone over false heresay," she added.

There were rumours that Lovato had taken the drugs when she attended Vitale's 28th birthday party on July 23. She was found unconscious hours later.

Vitale said the circulation of an "untrue story" has maligned her reputation.

"A damaging narrative that demonized me, placed blame on me, and has since cost me so many wonderful moments in life. This untrue narrative is damaging innocent people's lives, mine included. We are so quick to point the finger with little to zero facts at all," she further wrote.
