Demolition action against 1,856 illegal properties in 1 year

Demolition action has been taken against over 1,850 properties in north Delhi for unauthorised construction from January 2014 to March 2015, NDMC today said.

While 1,856 properties, out of which two were completely demolished while the rest partially, attracted only anti- encroachment action, 876 other property owners were booked, besides facing demolition.

North Delhi Municipal Corporation has six zones - City, Karol Bagh, Sadar Paharganj, Civi Lines, Narela and Rohini.

Among the 1,856 properties, maximum action was taken in Rohini Zone (743 properties), while City Zone attracted the least action with 63 properties which were partially removed.

The corresponding figure for the other zones are - Civil Lines (237), Narela (258), Karol Bagh (222), Sadar Paharganj (333), according to a municipal report.
 

321 properties were also sealed during this period.

In east Delhi, demolition action was taken against 818 properties in 2014-15 while 228 properties were sealed. Out of the 818 properties, 386 fell in Shahdara (North) Zone while 432 in Shahdara (South) Zone. In 2013-14, action was taken against 1,305 properties in east Delhi.
