Several people, including a policeman, were today injured as a mob went on the rampage at Narela in Outer District here angered by a demolition drive being carried out by the revenue department.

"We went to demolish unauthorised structures erected on Gram Sabha Land and Agricultural Land in Gautam Colony of Narela area this morning. Seeing our team, people got angry and resorted to stone pelting," said a senior official of the Revenue Department.

A policeman was injured in the stone pelting even as the law and order personnel resorted to firing teargas shells to disperse the crowd.

The official said the department has sought a detailed report of the incident from police as well as local revenue officials and would act after receiving the same.

The irate protesters also tried to stop trains at Narela railway station, but police managed to remove them from there.
