CPI(M) today said it would stage protests across Tamil Nadu on November 16 to urge the Centre to allow usage of the scrapped 500 and 1000 rupee notes until alternative arrangements were made for smooth availability of currency.
Stating that its Polit Bureau has given a call for nation-wide agitations to permit using scrapped notes, CPI (M) State Secretary G Ramakrishnan said here that its special meet at Tirunelveli has decided to hold protests in the State.
"Protest demonstrations will be held on November 16 in all the district headquarters and in other places. CPI(M) appeals to people to support the agitations to be held for safeguarding the people's interests," he said in a statement.
