UPCC president Raj Babbar today charged the central government with giving a severe blow to the historic lock industry of Aligarh through demonetisation.
"Modi has in one blow locked up the century old lock industry of Aligarh," Babbar said, addressing the party's convention against demonetisation at Dharampur courtyard gardens in the civil lines area of the city.
Economists have pointed out that 94 per cent of the black money was stashed away in foreign accounts but instead of making efforts to nab the real culprits involved in black transactions the Modi government was "harassing the common man and small businesses in the guise of cracking down on black money," he said.
