Members of right-wing outfits today held a demonstration outside a cinema hall here against Aamir Khan-starrer film 'PK', forcing suspension of its screening briefly.
Around two dozen activists of Bajrang Dal and VHP gathered in front of the cinema hall and raised slogans against Khan and the film's director Raj Kumar Hirani. They also tore posters of the film and burnt them, police said.
The theatre management briefly suspended the screening of Rajkumar Hirani-directed film that has won rave reviews and done brisk business at box-office.
The protesters alleged that certain scenes in the film were "objectionable" as they "hurt" the religious sentiments of Hindus. They demanded that the movie's screening be immediately stopped, police said.
The theatre management suspended the afternoon show but resumed the screening after the activists left the spot, Saroornagar Police Station Inspector K Narsing Rao told PTI.
"Security has been stepped up around the theatre," the officer said.
At least two police complaints were lodged last week here by BJP workers against the makers of the film. Police have sought legal opinion before registering any case.
Meanwhile, Hirani has rejected allegations that the movie was disrespectful to Hinduism and insisted that it projects oneness of humankind.
Protests against the film, which released on December 19, have been held in several parts of the country.
