Dempo made four changes from their last match against Mohun Bagan, which they lost, and they probed more often into the rival half creating more chances but once again they lacked in finishing with strikers Alwyn Geroge and Joy Ferrao missing close chances.
Alwyn Geroge showed a lot of urgency in the attack and had the first chance to put his team ahead early in the match but rival keeper Arindam did well to come out of his charge and thwart him from a well-directed through pass from Peter Carvalho.
A few minutes latter, Arindam was again tested by Leny Rodrigues whose left footer went straight to the keeper.
Dempo kept on probing into their opponents' half and they came with a counter move with Debabrata Roy sending a cross into the box for Joy Ferrao whose glancing header was well collected by Arindam.
Bharat FC defended well and relied mostly on counter move with long ball and they nearly scored midway in the first half when Kris William Bright's diving header off Steven Dias was put out by alert keeper Laxmikant Kattimani by diving to his left.
