"Since the monsoon has gone, the cases of dengue are coming down in comparison to what it was earlier," additional municipal commissioner (health) Manisha Mhaiskar told reporters.

She said one needs to prevent breeding of Aides Aegypti mosquito, which normally feeds during the daytime.

Mhaiskar said in the first week of October, 143 cases of dengue were reported. "However, they do not have deadly strain," she added.

BMC's health committee chairperson Geeta Gavli said dengue is spreading in buildings and high-rises in the metropolis and not in slum areas.

"Dengue cases are not increasing in slums, but they are more seen in the buildings," she told reporters here.

"Ward-wise the corporators should create awareness about the disease," Gavli added.
