Dengue: DMRC, DDA, DTC, DJB challaned for mosquito-breeding

Over 100 challans have been issued by the civic bodies for mosquito-breeding spots identified at places such as Delhi Metro construction sites, a DTC depot and a Delhi Tourism office, municipal officials today said.

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), in its all four zones, has challaned a number of key offices, metro projects, colleges, schools, hospitals and establishments.

"Around 80 challans were issued from March 15 to July 27 after noticing breeding of mosquitoes in those premises. The Public Health Department will continue to take action against such establishments," the SDMC said in a statement.

The places where mosquito-breeding was identified include metro construction sites in Janakpuri, Outer Ring Road, Vikaspuri and Vasant Vihar areas, DTC depot in Keshopur, ITI in Malviya Nagar, DJB office in Vasant Vihar.
 

Horticulture department of DDA at Janakpuri, a police station in Dwarka, Delhi Tourism office in Shriniwas Puri, Tyagraj Stadium and a SDMC school in Chhatarpur, it said.

The North Corporation has issued 20 challans for breeding of mosquitoes at various premises at schools, colleges and other establishments in its various zones, NDMC said.

The East Corporation has issued 14 challans for the violation in areas like Mayur Vihar and Preet Vihar and Laxmi Nagar, among other places, EDMC said.

At least 119 cases of dengue have been reported in the national capital this season, with 91 of these being recored last month alone, according to a municipal report released today.
