Dengue toll in Bengal mounts to 9

One more death due to dengue has been reported from West Bengal in the last 24 hours taking the toll to nine since January.

During the same period, 122 new cases of the disease have been reported from various parts of the state taking the total number of persons affected by the vector-borne disease to 1,117, state Director of Health Services, Biswaranjan Satpathy told PTI.

A 20-year-old youth from the South Dum Dum area died today after suffering from the vector-borne disease for the last six days, he said.

Report of another person, who has been suffering from high fever, was awaited and "that can possibly be another case of dengue," the health official said.
 

The new cases were reported mostly from Sreerampore Municipal area besides, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly and Howrah districts, Satpathy added.
