Four hundred girl students of a self financing Higher Secondary School here staged a protest in their campus for not being given laptops under a government scheme.
They gave up the stir this afternoon after District Revenue Officer S Selvaraj assured them that the laptops would be provided to them on October 20.
Officials said 400 students of Sarada Vidhhyala began their protest last night after they did not receive the laptops and on learning that the school had received a certificate, saying they had been issued.

Besides these students, another 100 from Government Higher Secondary school at Subramniyapuram also reportedly did not receive the laptops.
Yesterday all of them had blocked the car of District Collector V Sampath, who promised them that the laptops would be given to them.
