A Delhi BJP leader was allegedly attacked last night by a disgruntled youth because he was denied a party ticket for the MCD polls scheduled for later this month.

BJP's Karol Bagh district president Bharat Bhushan Madan, who is outgoing councilor for the Moti Nagar ward in North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), was injured in the attack and has lodged a police complaint in this regard.

"I was at my Moti Nagar residence when one Varun Chabra came along with his supporters around 7 PM and attacked me when I objected to their abuses," Madan said.

The accused was unavailable for his comment.

Sources claimed that Varun had allegedly paid Madan Rs 5 lakh for MCD ticket and had gone to demand back his money as his name was not in the official list of BJP candidates.

Madan refuted the allegation adding that he entertained Varun as a party supporter and there was no question of him being given party ticket since he is not even a party member.

"He is not even a party member how could he be considered for MCD polls? The allegation of taking money is absolutely incorrect," he said.

A complaint has also been filed from Chabra's side with police, sources said.
