Denmark govt includes kabaddi in the list of recognised games

"The Government of Denmark has included kabaddi in the list of recognised games. With this, Denmark has become the first non-Asian country to embrace this game, which originated in India," said a Punjab Government release here.

The release quoted a key player of Denmark team, Thomas Kluzer as saying that "kabaddi is getting popular day by day in Denmark".

The third edition of the World Cup Kabaddi, organised by the Punjab government, is currently underway in the state.

"In the men team, seven players are the local natives of Denmark, whereas the women team totally comprised of local players," he said.

 

Denmark today played their first match at Yadwindra Public School Stadium, Patiala against England.

Although, Denmark lost their match against England 25-58, but they were successful in making their presence felt in the World Cup Kabaddi, the release said.

The Pakistan team, which arrived here today, comfortably won their match from minnows Sierra Leone 52-12.
