Dense fog at IGI

operations for past four days, Indira Gandhi International airport here witnessed dense fog this morning affecting the movements of about 50 flights.

Dense fog today returned after four days which affected the schedule of about 50 flights, airport sources said.

Fog started to descend at the airport around 3.30 AM, when visibility dropped suddenly from 1200 metres to 400 metres at third runway, while it was above 1200 metres for main runway.

But within half an hour, dense fog also enveloped main runway and runway visibility decreased to 150 to 225 metres and at third runway it dropped to 50 to 100 metres.

 

The general visibility dropped to less than 50 metres and the situation remain till 9.30 AM. This led to delay in schedule of 50 flights, airport sources said.
