A 36-year-old man, "depressed" over the condition of his differently-abled son, allegedly axed him to death before committing suicide at Kesha village in Kiranapur area, police said today.

Rajendra Patle killed his 7-year-old son and also injured his 12-year-old daughter, both differently-abled, last evening when his wife was not at home, police inspector Nasib Faruq said.

The accused was apparently depressed over the health condition of his two differently-abled children, he said.

After killing his son and attacking daughter with an axe, Patle, a daily wage-earner with the forest department, allegedly hanged himself to death, he said.

"We are investigating the matter," district Superintendent of Police Gaurav Tiwari said.
