City-based Deputy Director of Industrial Safety and Health, who is a Class-1 officer, was held by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials here today for allegedly accepting a bribe through his clerk, who was also caught red-handed while accepting the money.
ACB officials laid a trap at the office of Deputy Director of Industrial Safety and Health N N Rao here today after they recieved a complaint from one Jitesh Trivedi, who accused Rao of demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 to speed up work related to the issuance of Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) registration certificate, an ACB official said.
It came to the fore that clerk Girish Shishangia called up Trivedi, who had applied for BOCW registration earlier, a few days back and demanded Rs 10,000 at the behest of Rao to speed up the process, the ACB official said.

"Rao too had similar talks with Trivedi yesterday when the latter paid Rs 3,000 as first installment to Shishangia. After we recieved Trivedi's complaint, we laid a trap at Rao's office today and nabbed Shishangia as soon as he accepted the remaining instalment of Rs 7,000 on behalf of Rao," the ACB official said.
Rajkot ACB police inspector J G Zala laid the trap and arrested both the accused on charges of demanding and accepting the bribe, the official said.
