Dera Sacha Sauda members have refused to cremate the bodies of their two colleagues who were killed by unidentified assailants on Saturday, as they continued with their protest demanding arrest of the culprits.

Their sit-in continued for the third day today on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla road, near here, where they they demand the arrest of killers of Satpal Sharma and his son Ramesh.

The protesters said they would not allow cremation till the police cracked the case.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG Ludhiana range) S K Kalia said, "We had assured the family members of the deceased and the followers of the Dera that the culprits would be nabbed soon but they are not ready to cremate the bodies of the father-son duo."

"On several occasions such blind murders take some time to sort out," he said, adding the police were working hard to trace the culprits at the earliest.

At the 'Naan Charcha Asharm' (congregation centre) of the Dera where Satpal Sharma (65) and his son Ramesh Kumar Sharma (35) were shot dead by two unidentified bike borne youths on Saturday late evening, their bodies were preserved in a freezer and guarded by the sect's security team.

Yesterday Dear head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh had demanded from the state government to arrest those who were behind the gruesome murder.
