A 26-year-old woman, who was reportedly depressed as her husband had deserted her, allegedly committed suicide in South Delhi's Katwaria Sarai area today, police said.
The deceased, identified as Larima, lived alone at her rented residence.
"The incident came to light around 8 am when the landlord reached her house to collect rent. As nobody answered his calls, he peeped into the house through a window and saw the woman hanging from the ceiling fan with a dupatta," said a police official.
Neighbours told police that Larima had eloped with Satendra after a love affair and married him. The couple was staying at the rented accommodation for the past seven months.
"Around 10 days back, Satendra left the house, leaving Larima behind. Locals said the woman was upset as Satendra neither returned nor was he answering her calls. She was feeling alone as her parents too had disowned her after the marriage while her in-laws had also refused to accept her," the official said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem and her relatives have been informed.
