Detel forays into refurbished device biz

Detel Mobile and Accessories Thursday announced foray into refurbished device segment through its e-commerce platform.

"With PreLoved Device, Detel aims to strengthen the entire ecosystem of buying and selling of refurbished and pre-owned devices. The company ensures the quality by selling the most authenticated products certified and graded by the experts at Detel's state-of-the-art refurbishment facility," the company said in a statement.

Initially, it will sell refurbished smartphones.

"In time to come, the company also plans to make available home appliances, laptops, tablets, and other gadgets and accessories. With an extensive distribution network, the company is set to deliver products pan India," it added.

* Spreading Happiness Indiya Foundation (SHIF), a collaboration between cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar and Schneider Electric India, has electrified 25,000 households through various solar-based initiatives.

"Till March 31, 2019, Spreading Happiness Initiative have electrified 25,000 households through their various solar based interventions," Schneider Electric India said in a statement.

The project was undertaken in several states of India including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, it added.

*********** Jindal Stainless, IIT-Kharagpur ink pact to impart to students knowledge on stainless steel grades

* IIT-Kharagpur will begin an elective course on stainless steel and advanced ferrous alloys from July as part of a pact signed this week between Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) and the educational institute to create awareness among graduating students on stainless steel grades.

"The curriculum shall focus on detailed study of different aspects of stainless steel and ferrous alloys. We thank Jindal Stainless for their efforts and look forward to a healthy industry-academia relationship," Head, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and School of Nano-Science and Technology, IIT Kharagpur, Dr Rahul Mitra said.

JSL Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said the course will instill a sense of innovation in the students and motivate them to embrace sustainable solutions in the future.
