Coast Guard today suggested detention of fishing boats operating in this district without valid license and registration.
Participating in a consultative meeting called by District Collector R Kesavan on coastal security and fishermen welfare, Coast Guard Commandant N Somasundaram suggested that the fishermen should not be allowed to operate boats without valid license and registration.
The official also recommended instalation of CCTV cameras in the Karaikal fishing harbour premises to monitor the movement of boats.
