Speaking at the general body meeting of the board held here, Ashraf made it clear that the current dispensation at the PCB remains committed to cleanse the sport and instill discipline in Pakistan cricket.
"We want to make Pakistan cricket a meritocracy comparable with the best in the world. It is a must if we need to win not just matches and tournaments but also the respect and admiration of the cricketing fraternity and ensure that the embarrassing incidents of 2010 in England are never again repeated," Ashraf said.
The PCB invited five of its former chiefs also to address the general body including Khalid Mehmood, Tauqir Zia, Shaharyar Khan and Ijaz Butt and all of them emphasised on the need to invite association member teams of the ICC to Pakistan as part of a bid to revive international cricket in the country.
"We are determined to bring international cricket back to Pakistan, by guaranteeing the teams that visit us with watertight security," Ashraf said.
"Afghanistan has already been here. And I myself and my management team have striven very hard to convince the Bangladesh Board to visit us by reassuring them that Pakistan is a safe destination for cricket," he added.
The remarks by Ashraf came one day after he told the media here that the PCB could reconsider its relations with the Bangladesh Cricket Board if it rejects an invitation to send its team to Pakistan for a short one-day series.
Ashraf also expressed hope that a decision on whether Bangladesh will tour Pakistan will be taken before the ICC meeting in Dubai. MORE PTI Cor AH
