Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said the state had got a government enjoying absolute majority for the first time and developmental works are going on transparently.

"For the first time in 15 years, Jharkhand got a government with absolute majority, and there is a high expectation of the people from it. It is functioning transparently," Das said.

Speaking at a seminar, "Media & Governance", Das said the media works like a mirror of the society and also has a controlling role over government's functions.

In the changing circumstances, the media has got into 'commercialism', an official release said quoting the chief minister.

The media should crosscheck the veracity and accuracy of a news before publishing it has an impact on the reader, he said.

Jharkhand Urban Development Minister C P Singh said the press is the 'Fourth Estate' and works as a guard and that is why constructive news stories should also find equal space along with negative ones.
