Anirudh Chautala, grandson of former deputy prime minister Devi Lal, and several other youths were taken into custody when they tried to stage a sit-in near the Haryana Chief Minister's residence here today.

Anirudh has recently launched a movement against what he alleged corruption in recruitment process for government jobs in Haryana.

He and several other youths were taken into custody when they tried to stage a sit-in D-Park near the CM's residence, officials said.

Section 144 has been imposed in the area banning assembly of five or more persons as a precautionary measure.

Police whisked away some of the protesters in vehicles, the officials said.

Anirudh had announced he will sit on a fast to press for abolition of the interview system at all levels of recruitment to government posts in the state.

"The interview raj is resulting in corrupt practices on a large-scale," he said.
