Jammu and Kashmir government is in the process of devising supply-chain management system (SCMS) to check pilferage of foodgrains coming from Food Corporation of India (FCI) to the state.
"National Informatics Centre (NIC), the executing agency, has been directed to expedite the work on developing the system so that the amount of foodgrains leaving FCI and reaching the state godowns can easily be tracked," Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Chowdhary Zulfkar said addressing a meeting here.
SCMS is one of the important components of Electronic Public Distribution System (EPDS) that CAPD department is implementing to keep track of the entire distribution system and ensure zero per cent pilferage.
