Devotees throng Ranganathaswamy shrine

Hundreds of people thronged Ranganathaswamy shrine here to offer worship to the presiding deity--Sri Namperumal--on the last day of the Pagal Pathu festival, part of the 21-day Vaikunta Ekadasi festival.

The idol was dressed up like Mohini (beautiful Angel).

More than 3000 policemen had been deployed for security duty in and around the temple.

The deity was adorned with Rathina Angi(Dress made of ruby and diamonds) and will enter the Sorgavasal(Gate to the Heaven)on the Vaikunta Ekadasi tomorrow,which is the eleventh day of the 21-day festival which had been divided into 'Pagal Pathu' festival and 'Raa Pathu' festival.

The festival is also celebrated to give importance to the Tamil Hymns of Alwars (tamil poet-saints).
