Devotees throng streets to witness 'Sirimanotsavam' festival

Lakhs of devotees today thronged the city streets to witness the 'Sirimanotsavam', the the annual festival of Sri Pydithalli Ammavaru.

A procession taken out as part of the celebrations made three trips from the Sri Pydithalli Ammavaru Temple to the main entrance of the Vizianagaram fort.

Members of public occupied every available space along the roads to watch the festival.

Hereditary trustee of the Temple, Union Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, prayed at the temple in the morning. Accompanied by his family members, he visited the fort to watch the Sirimanotsavam in the evening.>

Traditionally, the festival is organised on the firstTuesdayafter Dussehra.
 

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Rural Development Kimidi Mrunalini and Vizianagaram MLA Meesala Geeta were among those watched the procession from the fort ramparts.

Around 3,000 police personnel were deployed during the event.
