India's Subhankar Dey beat qualifier Lucas Claerbout of France in straight games to advance to the second round of Swiss Open badminton tournament here Wednesday.
Dey beat 21-19 21-17 in a 48-minute match to set up a second round clash against fifth seed Jonatan Christie of Indonesia.
However, in the women's singles, India's Vrushali Gummadi lost 12-21 23-21 17-21 to Kristin Kuuba of Estonia in her first round match.
In the men's doubles, the Indian pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy also lost to German duo of David Duagaard and Federik Sogaard 21-18 17-21 10-21.
