Dey, Raut dominate junior national gymnastics championship

Arik Dey from West Bengal and Shravani Raut from Maharashtra dominated the 54th Junior National Artistic Gymnastic Championship by winning fopur medals each as the event concluded here today.

Maharashtra won gold medals in team championship for both boys and girls categories, while Uttar Pradesh won silver in the boys category, even as West Bengal won silver medal in the girls category.

Arik Dey (West Bengal) won three gold medals in individual all round, floor exercise and horizontal bar as well as won a silver medal in table vault, besides a bronze in pommel horse.

Shravani Raut (Maharashtra) too won three gold medals in individual all round, table vault and uneven bars, besides a silver in balancing beam as well as a bronze in floor exercises.
 

Payel Das from West Bengal won a gold medal in balancing beam and floor exercises, while Saif Tamboli from Uttar Pradesh won a silver medal in floor exercises and pommel horse.

As many as 300 participants from various states took part in the three-day championship organised by the city-based Ehsaas Foundation in association with Gymnastics Federation of India and the Gujarat Gymnastics Association.

The championship was held at Saurashtra University.
